Bringing Hazlewoods' Cisco security estate into one agreement

Original helped Hazlewoods consolidate its Cisco security subscriptions into a three-year Enterprise Agreement, with a common renewal date and a proposed operating model to support adoption and plan for growth.

The challenge

Hazlewoods is a long-standing Original customer. Over several years, Original has delivered network access control, firewalls for its on-premises and Azure environments, SD-WAN and switching. As the Cisco security estate grew, so did the number of subscriptions, renewal dates and separate purchasing decisions.

Managing these subscriptions meant coordinating multiple quotes and renewal activities. It also made it harder to see the overall commitment and plan the introduction of additional capabilities. Hazlewoods needed a clearer way to manage the commercial arrangements around its security estate and understand the options available.

What Original delivered

Original worked with Cisco and its distributor to model the available approaches. The comparison covered Essentials and Advantage tiers, three- and five-year terms, and the option to include extended detection and response. This gave Hazlewoods a view of the trade-offs before it chose the agreement that best matched its requirements.

Original handled the ordering of the selected three-year Advantage agreement, bringing the included subscriptions onto a common end date. The agreement covers Cisco capabilities across endpoint connectivity, email security, multi-factor authentication and single sign-on, DNS and web protection, and next-generation firewalling.

To help the team understand the agreement, Original prepared a plain-English explainer of its scope, what each capability enables and the respective responsibilities. The proposed operating model includes regular reviews of consumption and adoption, with forecasting ahead of Cisco True Forward adjustments and preparation for renewal well before the term ends.

These reviews are intended to help Hazlewoods understand what it is using, identify opportunities to adopt included capabilities and plan for changes in demand. The proposed approach gives consumption and adoption a place alongside commercial planning throughout the agreement.

The outcome

Hazlewoods has one agreement for the included Cisco security subscriptions and a common renewal date. This creates a clearer basis for budgeting and reduces the coordination involved in managing separate renewals across the covered estate.

The agreement provides a structured way to accommodate growth, subject to the terms and charging rules that apply to each suite. Consumption reviews and forecasting are intended to help the firm anticipate any adjustments and plan ahead. Original remains the first point of contact for support and advice, helping Hazlewoods understand and realise the value of its security investment.
